Arabica coffee futures eased toward $4.1 per pound, their lowest in more than a week, down from a peak above $4.3 per pound on February 13, due to long liquidation pressures. Despite this, coffee prices remain supported by short supplies, with further tightening expected due to smaller arabica crop projections in Brazil for the 2025/26 season.. Meanwhile, Cecafe on February 12 reported that Brazil's January green coffee exports fell 1.6% y/y to 3.98 million bags.

Arabica Coffee Futures at Over 1-Week Low

The yield on the 10-year Indian G-Sec was at 6.75%, holding above the three-year low of 6.7% touched on February 6th following the delay of liquidity rules that forced the purchase of government bonds. The measure was delivered in tandem with the RBI’s first rate cut in over four years, shifting the balance of risk between lower growth and higher prices. This is after the RBI delivered a series of cash injections and longer-dated bond purchases to address tight liquidity conditions stemmed by tight monetary conditions and the RBI’s drainage of foreign exchange reserves to defend the rupee. Still, yields rebounded as the central bank delayed new liquidity regulations that would slow banks’ credit growth and force banks to buy as much as INR 4 trillion of G-Secs. Such measures will be implemented in March of 2026 instead of April this year.

India 10-Year Yield Holds Above 3-Year Low

The Sensex fluctuated during the session to close almost muted at 75,967.4 on Tuesday, as gains in IT and energy sectors were offset by losses in FMCG and auto stocks. Meanwhile, market sentiment continued to be dominated by concerns over weak Q3 earnings results, ongoing foreign fund outflows and global uncertainties. With more details still pending, US President Donald Trump's plan to impose reciprocal tariffs on Indian exports from April has raised serious concerns in India, as several sectors are particularly vulnerable, including chemicals, metal products, jewellery, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and food products.

Sensex Ends Almost Flat

Producer prices in Portugal declined by 0.3% year-on-year in January 2025, slipping from a 1.6% rise in the previous month. This marked the first drop in producer prices since April 2024, as costs fell for consumer goods (-3% vs 0.1% in December) and intermediate goods (-0.5% vs 0.6%). At the same time, producer inflation slowed for capital goods (1.3% vs 1.4%) and energy (4.2% vs 7%). Excluding energy, producer prices decreased by 1.2%, reversing from a 0.5% increase in the prior month. On a monthly basis, producer prices dropped by 1.5%, following a 0.2% gain in the preceding period.
