International arrivals to Vietnam increased by 22.1% year-on-year to 1.73 million in October 2025, following a 19.5% rise in the previous month. Visitors from Asia rose by 21.5%, led by China (41.9%), Malaysia (37.1%), Cambodia (49.3%), and the Philippines (68.4%). Arrivals from America also grew 8.2%, supported by higher numbers from Canada (8.1%) and United States (6.6%). European tourists climbed 34.9%, particularly from Russia (261%), the UK (17.2%), and France (15.9%). Moreover, visitors from Australia rose 14.5%, while those from Africa jumped by 28%. For the first ten months of the year, tourist arrivals advanced by 21.5% to 17.17 million.

Gold prices traded around $3,980 per ounce on Thursday, moving within a tight range near a four-week low as investors continued to scale back bets on US rate cuts. US private payrolls rose by 42,000 in October, exceeding forecasts of a 25,000 increase, while the ISM Services PMI climbed to an eight-month high. The figures reinforced expectations that there is little room for additional rate cuts, with inflation still above target and the government shutdown delaying key labor data. This comes against the backdrop of a hawkish tone from several Fed officials, aligning with Chair Powell’s recent remarks suggesting that the latest rate cut could be the last for this year. Still, some policymakers reiterated that interest rates should move lower over time. Adding to the downward pressure, sentiment toward riskier assets improved, reducing the metal’s safe-haven appeal.

Gold Holds Around $3,980

The Shanghai Composite climbed 0.5% to around 3,990 while the Shenzhen Component advanced 1.2% to 13,380 on Thursday, marking a second straight session of gains as a rebound on Wall Street overnight lifted global risk appetite. Investors also awaited China’s October trade and inflation data due later this week for signals on economic momentum, even as Sino-US trade tensions intensified during the month. Meanwhile, Premier Li Qiang recently stated that China’s economy is expected to exceed CNY 170 trillion within five years and vowed to further open the domestic consumer market to global firms, following the recent trade deal with the US. Leading gainers included TBEA Co (6.4%), Zhongji Innolight (1.8%), Cambricon Technologies (3.9%), Hygon Information (7.2%), and Victory Giant (2.7%).

China Stocks Rise for Second Day

Hong Kong equities climbed 309 points, or 1.2%, to 26,245 in early Thursday trading, rebounding from a muted close in the prior session amid broad-based sector gains. Sentiment improved after Wall Street bounced back overnight, as upbeat U.S. private payrolls data helped ease concerns over stretched AI valuations. Mainland shares also rose further after Premier Li Qiang said China’s economy is projected to top CNY 170 trillion within five years. Meanwhile, Beijing confirmed that China will suspend retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports following last week's meeting of their two leaders, including lifting duties on farm goods excluding soybeans. Upside momentum was limited ahead of key data releases in China, including October trade and CPI/PPI figures. Cathay Pacific Airways jumped 3.5% after announcing plans to repurchase 643.1 million shares held by Qatar Airways. Other notable gainers included Zijin Mining (6.4%), China Hongqiao Group (5.4%), Sinotruk Hong Kong (4.8%), and SMIC (2.5%).
